According to filing reports, trade groups representing corporations including Google+ parent Alphabet and Facebook have urged a court in the US to reinstate the ‘net neutrality’ rules.

According to their statement, “rules regulating the conduct of (internet providers) continue to be needed to protect and promote an open internet.”

The rules were on the record overturned by the President of US Donald Trump’s government in June.

In August 2015, Google announced plans to reorganize its various interests as a conglomerate called Alphabet Inc.

Facebook has more than 2.2 billion monthly active users as of January 2018.
