Japanese public multinational automobile company Honda is recalling about 1.4 million vehicles in United States which include Honda and Acura cars to replace Takata front passenger airbag inflators.

According to a post in AutoBlog, the company said the recall is part of an attempt to get ahead of a government-mandated schedule of recalls on the Japanese-made airbags.

Honda further stated the company will recall 232,140 new Honda cars (225,885 Accords and 6,255 Insights) over software issue for the rear camera display.

Honda has been the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer since 1959, as well as the world’s largest manufacturer of internal combustion engines measured by volume, producing more than 14 million internal combustion engines each year.

The company emerged as the 2nd-largest Japanese automobile manufacturer in 2001. Honda was the 8th largest automobile manufacturer in the world behind Toyota, Volkswagen Group, Hyundai Motor Group, General Motors, Ford, Nissan, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in 2015.

In 2013, Honda emerged as the first Japanese automaker to be a net exporter from the United States, exporting 108,705 Honda and Acura models, while importing only 88,357.
