The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup 2018 provided a whopping $14.5 billion boost to the economy of Russia.

The tournament’s organising committee revealed that the event also created up to 315,000 workplaces-a-year for Russians during the build-up to the prestigious event.

Remarkably, over 1 million football fans visited the event.

The FIFA World Cup has a substantial impact on the global economy. The global governing body with 204-member countries, is beginning to assess the event as a global “big business”.

FIFA has budgeted spending about $791m on teams and players – including prize money, compensation, insurance for players injured on national-team duty, and the preparation costs for the teams.
