A greeting from the International Space Station by ESA astronaut Paolo Nespoli as we celebrate 50 years of ESA Mission Control in Darmstadt, Germany. ESOC, the European Space operations Centre, was inaugurated on this day, 8 September 1967, and has since operated 77 successful missions. Currently a multitude of missions from Earth Observation to Solar System exploration, such as the Sentinels, ExoMars or, in the near future, BepiColombo to Mercury, are controlled from ESOC.
