Ireland has become the 2nd nation in the world after the United Kingdom to declare climate emergency.

Ireland on 9th of May has taken a historic decision, as it declared climate emergency in the country.

With this decision, Ireland has become the 2nd nation in the world after the United Kingdom to declare climate emergency.

An amendment to a Parliamentary statement declaring a climate emergency and calling on parliament to study how the government can improve its response to the issue of biodiversity loss was accepted without a vote.

Reacting to the decision, Eamon Ryan, leader of Irish Green Party who played a key role in moving the amendment called the decision historic.

Britain became the First Country in the world to declare a climate emergency, passing the largely symbolic motion in the parliament on 1st of May.
