Well, the virus has not done any harm to the Tata vehicle but the resemblance in the names sounds embarrassing to the makers who are just going to launch Zica at the Delhi Auto Expo.

The first teaser of Tata Zica was released around two months back. Zica was promoted as ‘Zippy Car’ and footballer Lionel Messi was roped in as brand ambassador. The trial runs for media happened in Goa and the car’s design got excellent reviews.

However things turned ugly for Zica in January this year after the Zika virus from South America started making headlines all around the globe. Last week, the World Health Organization (WHO) chief also warned that Zika virus is spreading menacingly across the world.

The decision to name the car Zica happened long back when there was nothing like Zika virus in the dictionary. In view of the recent developments, a new name for the hatchback was being considered by the Tata heads it is said.
