In the past 15 years, Latin America has made progress in expanding access to basic services like electricity, water and sanitation, and education. However, the progress has been uneven both across countries and for different types of basic services. While gaps in providing access to electricity have narrowed between countries, access to water and sanitation is far from equal among countries.
