On this day: 27 June 1978, Polish cosmonaut Mirosław Hermaszewski was launched on Soyuz 30, the second Interkosmos mission to the Soviet space station Salyut 6. He became the first (and to this day the only) Polish national in space. Together with cosmonaut Pyotr Klimuk, he spent almost eight days on Salyut 6. (Pic: PAP)
