Our SOFIA Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy took off today to study #NeptunesMoon Triton as it passes in front of a star, casting a shadow on Earth. During this event, called an occultation, SOFIA will fly inside the shadow to study the star’s light as it passes around and through Triton’s atmosphere.
