United Nations Development Programme has named Indian- American television personality and food expert Padma Lakshmi as their newest Goodwill Ambassador.

Lakshmi’s appointment has been announced on Thursday by UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner in a ceremony at the UNDP headquarters in the city, on the eve of International Women’s day.

She is the Emmy-nominated television personality and award-winning author.

United Nations Development Programme has named Indian- American television personality and food expert Padma Lakshmi as their newest Goodwill Ambassador. She will support the agency in fighting against inequality and discrimination across the world.

Lakshmi’s appointment has been announced on Thursday by UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner in a ceremony at the UNDP headquarters in the city, on the eve of International Women’s day.

She is the Emmy-nominated television personality and award-winning author. In her new role, she will mobilize the support for the Sustainable Development Goals with a keen focus on fighting inequality, discrimination and empowering the disenfranchised.
