Corporate Spying: CBI arrests govt officials selling confidential policy papers

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday registered a case and arrested a Chartered accountant and two government officials for the alleged theft and sale of policy papers.

According to latest reports, the CBI has recognized the three captured for the alleged theft and sale of policy investment strategy papers to corporate companies, as Khemchand Gandi (Chartered Account), Ashok Kumar Singh (Secretary in the Department of Disinvestment and Grievances) and Lala Ram Sharma (Section Officer in the Department of Economic Affairs).

As per the CBI, a few companies in India, including IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, DLF, Glenmark and others are currently under the scanner.

The CBI probe uncovered that documents from the finance and the Commerce ministries were purportedly being sold to the chartered accountant.
