Ease of doing business in India: Govt identifies parameters to ensure ease of doing business

Focusing on the necessity for India to achieve higher growth direction, Amitabh Kant, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) on Friday said that ease of doing business must be ensured for the country’s own sake and not only for achieving higher positioning on this index at the global level.

“The government has taken several initiatives to enhance the nation’s positioning on ease of doing business index,” Kant said at the CII Western Region annual meeting.

The quantity of forms required to be filled for export and import business had been decreased from nine to three, he said.

The Centre has identified around 98 parameters that it has imparted to the states for necessary action by May 2015, he added.

India’s position had slipped to a low 142nd last year on the World Bank’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ rankings of 189 nations.
