The European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) on 24th of April have signed a joint framework aimed at strengthening partnership in counter-terrorism efforts.

According to the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, the joint framework between UN and EU was enacted on the occasion of the second EU-UN high-level political dialogue on Counter-Terrorism that was held in New York.

The statement also said, the UN-EU Initiative will mainly focus on terrorism and violent extremism prevention in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

It further said, it will also focus on supporting victims and promoting the reintegration of terrorism offenders.

The European Union External Action said in a press release, “terrorism in all forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international Peace and Security. Countering this threat requires collective efforts at national, regional and international level. In this spirit, the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU) signed today a Framework on Counter-Terrorism strengthening the EU-UN partnership in this area, on the occasion of their second EU-UN high-level political dialogue on Counter-Terrorism held in New York.”
