In the midst of apprehensions over the reformed H1B Visa programme in the United States, India has stated, it was in touch with the administration of US President Donald J. Trump and preparing a complete assessment of its effect on Indian professionals.

India’s External Affairs Ministry spokesman Gopal Baglay stated, H1-B visas cap has remained at 65,000 since December 2004 when the H1-B Visa Reform Act was passed by the US Congress.

Mr. Trump had freshly signed an executive order for tightening the procedures of the H-1B Visa programme to make certain that the visas are given to what he termed the most-skilled professionals.

India has also responded to Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s decision over new immigration rules.

Mr. Turnbull had said, his government will put an end to a current work visa used by over 95,000 foreign workers, to handle the rising unemployment.
