Criticising the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government over the Rafale deal, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said, “Why was an aircraft that was worth ₹520 crore bought for ₹1,600 crore? Who were you trying to benefit?”

He has also criticised Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at the press conference for not reacting on Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe on the Rafale deal.

Rahul had earlier demanded a probe on joint Parliamentary committee. Attacking finance Minister, Gandhi said Jaitley wrote in his blog hitting out at Congress but didn’t say anything on JPC probe.

The Rafale is a French twin-engine, canard delta wing, multirole fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault Aviation.

Equipped with a wide range of weapons, the Rafale is intended to perform air supremacy, interdiction, aerial reconnaissance, ground support, in-depth strike, anti-ship strike and nuclear deterrence missions.
