If you were in Saturn’s orbit looking toward its sunlit ring…

If you were in Saturn’s orbit looking toward its sunlit rings, this would be your view–that of Rings A and B slightly warped. In its upper regions, Saturn’s atmosphere absorbs some of the light reflected by the rings as it passes through them. And as light passes from space to the atmosphere and back out into space towards a camera on our Cassini spacecraft, its path is refracted, or bent. The result is that the ring’s image appears warped. More: http://go.nasa.gov/2abVAzS
