India Name Anil Kumble As Head Coach




Anil Kumble, former finest Indian cricket spinner will be the new coach of Indian Cricket Team.

BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket In India) working committee meeting on Thursday has taken the decision in this regard and his tenure would be for one year.

Kumble was among 57 candidates who applied for the position advertised by the BCCI earlier this month.

The Cricket Advisory Committee comprising Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Saurav Ganguly then proposed the name of Kumble after interviewing a number of candidates.

Kumble’s first assignment will be India’s four-Test tour of West Indies.

Kumble is the highest wicket-taker for India till date and 3rd in the international list, behind Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka) and Shane Warne (Australia).

Kumble has played 132 tests, claiming 619 wickets including a best of 10 for 74 against Pakistan in Delhi in 1999. He accumulated 337 ODI wickets. In Twenty20 internationals, he captured 57 wickets in 54 matches. Overall, Kumble has 1136 wickets to his name in first class cricket.

Kumble was awarded Padma Shri and also received Arjuna Award.
