Twelve days after a terror attack on CRPF soldiers in Pulwama, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out surgical strike 2.0 at terror camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Balakot region of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

Pakistani security forces and Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were caught unaware when 12 IAF Mirage-2000 fighter jets crossed the Line of control around 3.40am on Tuesday and dropped around 1,000kg bombs, which killed up to 350 terrorists. IAF took 19 minutes to complete the operation.

After the entire operation was over, PM Narendra Modi said that he would not let his countrymen down and assured that the country is in safe hands.

According to Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, credible intelligence was received that Jaish-e-Mohammed was attempting another suicide terror attack in different parts of the country, and they are giving training to fidayeen jihadis for this purpose. In the face of imminent danger, an immediate strike became necessary.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has acknowledged the strikes carried out in the region and has warned that an appropriate response at the “time and place of its choosing.” Addressing the press, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan would respond to the air strikes conducted by the IAF across the LoC. He further added that India conducted a strike for propaganda. The press meet took place after a special meeting of the National Security Committee at Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s office.
