Kerala Govt To Provide Free Internet For 2 Mn BPL Households By 2020

The government of Kerala has approved the project under which approximately 2 million families Below the poverty Line will get free internet access by December 2020.

The Kerala government on 6th November approved the project under which approximately 2 million families Below the Poverty Line (BPL) will get free internet access by December 2020.

Kerala’s Finance Minister Thomas Isaac on 7th November wrote on his Twitter page, “Internet connection made a basic a citizen right. Kerala cabinet gives final nod for ₹1548 crores Kerala Fibre Optic Network (KFON) Project to provide Internet to every household in the state.”

For 20 lakh BPL households it will be free, the Minister said.

The project to be completed by Dec 2020, he added.
