The first pulsar was observed on 28 November 1967, by astronomers Jocelyn Bell Burnell and Antony Hewish. Half a century on we’re celebrating the anniversary of this discovery later this year. Did you know that ESA’s orbiting observatory XMM-Newton found the brightest and farthest pulsar to date? See http://sci.esa.int/xmm-newton/58817-the-brightest-furthest-pulsar-in-the-universe/
