The largest vacuum chamber of ESA’s Propulsion Laboratory at ESTEC, in Noordwijk…

The largest vacuum chamber of ESA’s Propulsion Laboratory at ESTEC, in Noordwijk, is used for testing different types of thrusters for space. About 2 m in diameter and 5 m in length, this Small Plasma Facility is large enough to contain sections of a satellite as well as the thruster to be tested – studying how its firing interacts with nearby surfaces. Thrust forces can be measured down to micronewton levels. See http://www.esa.int/spaceinimages/Images/2017/02/Vacuum_chamber_in_Propulsion_Lab
