This is Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. The 180,000+ refugees who live in this remote camp in northwest Kenya are active as employers, consumers, and producers. These refugees have created a significant informal economy — with a market estimated at $56 million annually. Investment from social enterprises or commercial firms would help to formalize this economy, and increase opportunities for refugees and the local Kenyan economy.
