U.S. Senate Fails To Pass Bill To Tighten Gun Controls

The U.S. Senate on Monday rejected the plans to restrict gun controls, including the restrictions on selling weapons to people who are on terrorism watch lists.

Four key proposals were brought before the Senate after 49 people died in an attack on a gay nightclub in Florida.

However, they fell short of the 60 votes needed for passage in the 100-member chamber.

The Congress has not passed new gun restrictions since a 2007 expansion of the government’s automatic background check database to include individuals with a history of mental illness and felons.

According to sources, the United States has more than 310 million weapons.
