Urban Development Ministry: ‘No LPG Subsidy for over Rs 10 lakh Income’

Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary affairs, has revealed the plan of Central government to withdraw LPG subsidy for people with annual income of Rs 10 lakh or more.

Speaking at an awards function at the Federation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Chamber of Commerce, Venkaiah Naidu questioned why do people with over Rs 10 lakh income need subsidy?

He also opined that all the ministers, MLAs, public representatives and those who are in power don’t need subsidy.

The minister added that over 30 lakh people have given up subsidy responding to a call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ‘The money saved on this can be used to provide subsidized gas connections to poor people,’ added the minister.

He also recalled that Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has recently revealed that many illegal gas connections have been identified and by stopping gas supply to them, thousands of Crores of public money was saved.
