The models however would come with Sony’s X1 Ultimate processor, optimised to handle 33 million pixels for 8K outputs.
Sony has historically been notable for creating its own in-house standards for new recording and storage technologies, instead of adopting those of other manufacturers and standards bodies.
The company is among the semiconductor sales leaders and since 2015, the 5th largest television manufacturer in the world after Samsung electronics, LG Electronics, TCL and Hisense.
