What made Rai come up with the proposal?
According to a report published in the Guardian, Italian state broadcaster Rai has proposed the plan which is aimed at better targeting male and female Audiences following low audience viewership.
It also said, the aim of the proposal was to improve film offerings and allow advertisers to better place their ads.
However, the Rai’s proposal has been criticized by opposition party leaders as well as women’s groups in the country.
“This is frankly incomprehensible,” Salvatore Margiotta, a senator with the centre-left Democratic Party said.
