With a global Gross of approximately ₹238 crore, Zoya Akhtar directorial Gully Boy became the fourth highest-grossing Bollywood Film of 2019 and the year’s highest-grossing Bollywood film overseas.

Zoya Akhtar directorial Gully Boy, featuring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, has been confirmed as India’s official entry for the 92ndAcademy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

‘Super Deluxe’, ‘AndhaDhun’ and ‘Article 15’ were among the other Movies considered by the jury.

Gully Boy is a 2019 Bollywood musical drama film directed by Zoya Akhtar, and written by Akhtar and Reema Kagti.

The movie features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, and features Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Vijay Raaz in supporting roles.

Inspired by the lives of Indian street rappers Divine and Naezy, the film is a coming-of-age story about an aspiring street rapper from the Dharavi slums of Mumbai.

With a global gross of approximately ₹238 crore, it became the fourth highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2019 and the year’s highest-grossing Bollywood film overseas.

It has now been selected as the Indian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards.

The Academy Awards will be held on 9th of February 2020.
