YSR Congress party chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on 17th of October taken a decision to withdraw the interview system in Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) recruitments.

This is reportedly the very first Public Service Commission’s recruitment that will take place without interviews.

When does the implementation start?

According to the Chief Minister’s announcement, all the recruitments by the APPSC from 1st of January, 2020 will be wholly based on the performance of the written examinations.

Criticism erupts.

The AP govt’s decision, however has perhaps led many job seekers into disappointment while some hailed the decision.

Those who prefer the interview system in the selection process to continue argue that the skill of the candidate will be fully known only during a face-to-face interaction with experts.

But then again, those welcoming the Jagan Reddy’s decision believe that this move will help curbing Corruption and favouritism.

But, the question is how the interview termination would really help curb corruption?

Why can’t the government take robust steps to control corruption in the interview system instead.?
