Yoga Guru Ordered to Pay $1 million over Sexual Assault

Indian-American Yoga guru Bikram Choudhury has been slammed $1 million compensation in Sexual Assault case.

The founder of Bikram Yoga in the US, Bikram Choudhury, is facing several sexual allegations including one by his former lady lawyer Minakshi Jafa-Bodden. She complained that Choudhury fired her when she started to investigate the claims of one of his rape victims. She also alleged that he used to make obscene comments at her and he repeatedly sexually assaulted her.

After verifying Minakshi’s claims, the noted Yoga guru has been asked to pay $924,500 as compensation by a Los Angeles jury. The jury is now considering whether to compensate Ms Jafa-Bodden for punitive damages.

The founder of a world-famous hot yoga method, Choudhury, 69, has built a huge empire around Bikram yoga, a rigorous yoga routine performed in a hot room. Since past few months, he has been facing lawsuits by six women who claim of sexual assault.
