The National Green Tribunal on Thursday guided Volkswagen India to deposit an entirety of 500 crore rupees with the Central Pollution Control Board within two months.
A bench led by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel upgraded the pay measure of ₹171 crore, which was suggested by an NGT-delegated board of trustees, as a method for “creating deterrence.”
However, the bench stated that Sustainable improvement is the main guiding factor they are unable to acknowledge the manufacturer’s complaints to the report.

The organization, however, fought that recommended standards under the BS-IV were not damaged and that the test outcomes depended on, “on road testings” for which there were no prescribed standards.

They further added that the apex pollution monitoring body might consider utilizing the money towards improving air quality in the NCR and other highly polluted regions.
